How to Correct Outdated Information on Your Dispute Letters

Printing and mailing your first set of dispute letters is a very exciting event. And to ensure they meet the accuracy requirements for the credit bureaus, it is important you make sure your name, address, date of birth, and social security number are correct. If they are not, your dispute letter will be denied.

But if you’ve already printed your first dispute letters and are just now realizing there is a problem with some of your personal information, it can be easily rectified. Here’s how:

Updating Your SmartDispute.ai Account Profile

  1. Determine which information needs to be updated. That might be an address, birthdate, or social security number that is incorrect.
  2. Login to your SmartDispute.ai account. Whenever you log in, you are always taken to your personalized DASHBOARD.
  3. Go to MY ACCOUNT in the upper right-hand corner of the page and click on “Account Settings.” For mobile users, click on the menu icon and then click on “Account Settings” in the MY ACCOUNT menu.
  4. Change the information or dates that need to be corrected and click on SAVE.
  5. In the menu area, locate SMART TRACK and click on it.
  6. Toward the top of the page you’ll see the phrase “Manage and track your dispute letter(s)” and below that, locate “Needs Attention”. These are the letters you most recently created.
  7. Locate the letter or letters which need to be removed or deleted. This will delete the dispute letter.
  8. Click on SMART DISPUTE in the menu and re-create the dispute letter. It will now be populated with your updated information.
